About the Institute of Pharmacy
The Institute of Pharmacy was established in 2023 as one of the faculties of Dr. Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University, Lucknow. It started its first academic session in the year 2023 with four – a four-year bachelor's program in Pharmacy (B. Pharm) and two – years Diploma program in Pharmacy (D. Pharm). The institute is approved by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), New Delhi. The students are given individual attention by the qualified and experienced faculties and their high-quality learning is well supported by the advanced laboratory infrastructure which is sufficient to cater to the needs of the students. The College is equipped with all the modern instruments and machinery to provide the best practical training to budding pharmacists. It also provides a healthy academic atmosphere for the students to achieve their highest goals.
About the Departments
Department of Pharmacology
The department works forward with an aim to be established as a research unit that may help the society with new innovations on drug therapy. The department is equipped with advance laboratory facilities and important latest machines. The department is supported by competent and dedicated staff. Who are involved in teaching Pharmacology for B.Pharm, & D.Pharm. The Department has established the methods of screening of different phytopharmaceuticals and synthetic drugs on various experimental animal models. The Department fulfils the needs of the co-departments like pharmacognosy, Pharmacutics and pharmaceutical chemistry with regard to screening of drugs on experimental animals. The Department involved in Institutional Animal Ethical Committee for the purpose of control and supervision of experimental animals.
Department of Pharmaceutics
The Department of Pharmaceutics works to promote the efficacy and safety of therapeutics through inclusive teaching and transformative research in the drug delivery and disposition sciences. Through work that span from molecular, cell- and organ-based studies in humans and animals and mathematical modeling and simulation techniques, our research and teaching focus on understanding the processes that determine the exposure and pharmacological response to drugs.
Department of Pharmaceutical chemistry:
Pharmaceutical chemistry is the study of drugs, and it involves drug development. This includes drug discovery, delivery, absorption, metabolism, and more. There are elements of biomedical analysis, pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics. Pharmaceutical chemistry work is usually done in a lab setting.
Department of Pharmacognosy
The department of Pharmacognosy is responsible for imparting studies in the field of Pharmacognosy for the D.Pharm, B.Pharm and Pharm.D students. The department is actively engaged in the research activities like phytochemical investigations which include isolation, identification, characterization and pharmacological evaluation of traditionally important plants. Various traditionally used plant drugs were screened for the pharmacological activities like anticancer activity, hepato-protective activity, anti-oxidant activity, anti-inflammatory activity etc., the department is also engaged in the standardization of various poly herbal formulations with the help of recent chromatographic techniques
